Manafrement of Exit Site and External Cuff Infection in 5 Patients with CAPD

Abstract
for removal of an otherwise well-functioning catherter. In addition, the catheter related complication can lead to more serious infection such as peritonitis if not treated adequately.
Careful exit site care and adequate management of catheter related infections are needed to maintain the successful CAPD in patients with end stage renal failure.
We report 5 cases with severe catheter exit site infection complicated with external cuff infection not responded to antibiotics for more than two weeks. All these 5 patients were successfully managed by excisional debridement of tissue around the external cuff without interruption of CAPD during the procedure, and continue CAPD without any more complication from one to six months after the procedure.
